The Nilamata Purana constitutes an encyclopedia of knowledge
about Kashmir. It contains summaries of information as gathered from this text,
on history, geography, politics, society, religion, philosophy, education,
Iconography, art and architecture. The present volume comprises the source, in
the original form, of what has been stated in the first.
This Volume contains the text of the Nilamata Purana in
Devanagari script and its English translation for the first time. The text is
based on a number of manuscripts critically edited. Besides, it has a verse-
index and the author’s own bibliography.
