Poonch region of Jammu and Kashmir State is located in the Southwestern foothills of Pir Panchal Range. The terrain of this region varies from sub-tropic to temperate zone. The upper areas of Mandi and Surankote touching the main Pir Panchal range resemble the climatic conditions of Kashmir valley, while Mendhar and Lower Poonch Block fall under Sub-tropic zone.
Due to its natural beauty Poonch is also known as ‘Mini Kashmir’, ‘Land of Sufi and Derwaishs’ area of warrior tribes and people of good reputation. The district comprise snowcapped mountainous ranges, thick belts of forest, sloppy land, attractive mounds, gushing streams, springs, crystal clear lakes, Dhoks, Margs, valleys, gorges, glens, high pasture lands, meadows, waterfalls, glaciers, torrential nallahs and rivers.
He author in the village Gundi, Tehsil Surankote district Poonch on 01st October 1947, did M.Sc. in Mathematics and joined government service. He served as Asst. Director Industries, deputy Director Evaluation, Poonch, chief Planning Officer Poonch, Leh and Rajouri, retired as KAS Officer in the pay scale of Additional Sectary. The author has written 21 books in Urdu, Pahari and English which includes history of Poonch in Urdu, History of Rajouri in Urdu and English, history of Shahdara Sharief in Urdu, History of Pahari Kabails in Urdu apart from Poonch the battlefield of Kashmir in English. The author has also written short story books Chadar and Gappan in Urdu, Britain, Ramzan, Udeekan and Tichkaran in Pahari. Poetry composition Chand K Saath in Urdu and Sangan in Pahari
The author has written 19 TV serials and 152 documentaries in Urdu, Pahari, Gojri and English which have been telecasted from Kashier Channel, Doordarshan Jammu, Doordarshan Srinagar and Apna Channel England. The author has written 275 radio talks, dramas and documentaries and got published research articles in English, Urdu, Gojri and Pahari. Presently he is editing a fortnightly peace and relation from Poonch, President Heritage Centre Poonch and also associated through his invoice stories with current even Programme Shairbeen broadcasted from Srinagar. The author has been awarded by State Award for his contribution in the field of History of Poonch, Akashwani and award for best documentary in Pahari and Cultural Academy Award for best Drama Script.
