In modern times Kashmiri Pandits have not made any serious
attempt to analyses the events in a systematic manner which was taking place
around them. These events were bound to have profound and lasting effect on
their living conditions in their native land – the valley of Kashmir. In fact
most of these events were conspicuously unidirectional in nature. This
indigenous group of people of Kashmir valley was on the receiving end, being a
minuscule minority, living in a dispersed condition. They were battered through
a series of violent waves in modern times which were caused by Kashmiri Muslim
majoritarianism in 1931, 1967, 1986, 1989- 90 and onwards. The net effect of
these events was the extermination of this indigenous group of people from its
land of origin. Now they are living a refugee life at various places outside
the valley within India and abroad.
