He has been widely remembered for his Dynamic efforts of all the measures of reforms prepared by the Colonial Government I the State of Jammu and Kashmir none was as thorough going as the Land Settlement operation instituted between 1889 and 1895 and over- seas by Sir Walter R. Lawrence . The apparent sympathy with which he treated the plight of Cultivating Classes of Kashmiri- Muslims earned him a degree of respect in evidence to this day in Kashmir.
The Landmark work on Kashmir “The valley of Kashmir” was widely accepted and appreciated by all masses till date and is also used as a Authenticate Reference on Kashmir Studies.
Besides many contributions in the field of writing his other works includes “The India we served and ‘Ruling Princes and Chiefs of India”.
